St John's Anglican Church

The City of St. Thomas is a prosperous, industry based community (2006 population 36,110) located in a picturesque area of Southern Ontario, about 15 km north of Port Stanley and 28 km south of London.

The City boasts of its railway heritage, and a statue of Jumbo, the famous circus elephant who was struck and killed by a train in St. Thomas.   The City operates two beautiful recreational parks, many different churches, and an active Senior's Centre, a Public Art Centre, a local branch of Fanshawe College, excellent health services, a large Baseball Complex, and an airport.

Saint John's is a core area Church, located just off Talbot Street, St Thomas' main thoroughfare, on Flora Street across from the Arthur Voaden Secondary School.   For more than 130 years the parish has been a vibrant community, with many dedicated clergy and a loyal membership.

Tried, tested, and true, the faithful people of Saint John's have faced the frontiers of their time, standing to challenges again and again.   Our commitment to God, to our Church family, to our mission, and to our community remains strong.   We are confident in or leadership, our Board of Management, Choir, and all our individual groups as together we seek to give shape to the new.

Visitors are welcomed with open hands and hearts, and, soon feel like one of the family, enjoying a typical Anglican liturgy, but, with a special Children's Focus and spiritually energizing music from our Praise and Worship Team.

The original beauty of our Church has been kept and maintained, including our most beautiful stained glass windows.   In 1986, the Parish erected a new Hall, the hub of social activities that bring added joy to the life of the Church. Porter Hall is available to the public for wedding receptions, banquets, and is used on a regular basis by groups in the community.
